almost. You missed a sign.
5x+20y=60
20y=-5x+60
y= -1/4 x+3
slope is -1/4, and the y intercept (when x is zero) is 3
Could someone help me with my next step? I am to find the slope and y intersept of 5x + 20y =60.
I believe I need to rearrange this so that it matches the equation y= mx +b so, 20y = 5x +60. I would need to divide all sides by 20 leaving me with: y = 1/4x + 3 but now I am stuck... I think maybe the slope is 1/4 but not sure about the y intersept... please help explain this.

Thank you but still a bit confused... Why is 5x a negative now? So the number that is in the place of m is the solpe and the number that takes the place of b is the y intersept in the y=mx+b?
5x+20y=60
subtract 5x from both sides...
20y=-5x+60
Yes,in y= mx + b
m is the slope, b is the y intercept.
Y intercept means what y is when x is zero. Look at your graph paper axis.

I understand now... Thank you sooo much!
