x + 3y =2 (1)
x = 9 -3y (2)

solve the system of equations

1 answer

It gives you the value of x, so substitute that value into the first equation, like this:

x + 3y = 2
x = 9 - 3y

9 - 3y + 3y = 2
9 = 2

Somehow, you get 9 = 2, which is DEFINITELY not correct, so maybe there was a typo in typing out the question?
