Multiply step by step:
20.45 x 60.34=

this may be easy calculating but when I do this by writing out the steps and the problem I keep getting a different answer than what the calculator gives me... what am I doing wrong..

1) multiply 4 by 5, 4, 0 and 2 (remember to carry up the numbers - ex. 5 x 4 = 20 and the two is carried up and added to 4 x 4):

2) write a 0 on the far right of the next line and multiply 3 by 5, 4, 0 and 2. again, carry.

3) the next one would be all 0s.

4) write three 0s this time and then multiply 6 by 5, 4, 0 and 2 and remember to carry.

20.45

5) add those three numbers:

12339530

6) add the amount of decimal places in the original problem, which is four in this case.

1233.9530

It looks as though you may have some multiplying errors as well as decimal point problems.
