I liked the way the book had a happy ending. This really inspired me because throughout the book, I followed the journey of a girl named Melba Beals as she faced hardships and lots of discrimination in her quest for integration at Central High. Despite the constant threats and violence towards her, She never backed down. She stood up for what she believed in, even when it seemed impossible to achieve. The ending of the book perfectly captured Melba’s determination. What I loved most was that it showed Melba fight for integration/equality and succeed. Her struggles were not for nothing and they were important in paving the way for future generations. By standing up against segregation and Jim Crow Laws by enduring hardships. She is an inspiration for others to follow. I also really like how they tell a little more about Melba’s life after Central High. I really liked the story and how they concluded it.
