I am trying to figure out a lettern pattern and what comes next

A,Y,C,W,__ __ ___

I need to explain the rule for this pattern but I am having a hard time

A = 1st letter
Y = 25th letter
C = 3rd letter
W = 23rd letter

Do you see a pattern? What letter do you think comes next?

E = 5th letter
V = 21st letter

add 2 for first letter, then subtract 2 for next letter
