In the following sentence, I am supposed to tell what is the simple subject and what is the complete subject.

It was suggested that the mother apply aloe vera four times daily.

Is the simple subject it? I don't have a clue what the complete subject is.

I think the complete subject is the mother applying aloe vera. The main subject is the mother.

was suggested = main verb
that = word introducing subordinate clause
mother = subject of subordinate clause (not the whole sentence)
apply = verb of subordinate clause
