Should we eliminate fats from our diets altogether and increase proteins? What are some of the benefits that unsaturated fats and proteins provide when included in a balanced diet?

Butter, bacon, and juicy cheeseburgers taste good. That is why we eat them, the problem is moderation. They do provide a vehicle for fat soluble vitamins. Fats also do some things that there are no good substitutes (making a pie crust for instance). Fats also provide a very high calorie intake for those who need it, albeit that number of folks is shrinking. Proteins supply amino acids, a few of which our body does not manufacture very well.
