a.) 1/3 - 5/6 = 1/x

transpose

x= 5/6 - 1/3
x= (simple all you need yo do is
subtract the fractions) or (if you don't know how to solve, use your calculator)

b.) t+1/3-t-1/2=1

( I don't know this one) hehe. is there something wrong in your letter b?

b. t+1/3-t-1/2 = 1
Simplify:
t-t+1/3-1/2 = 1
-1/6 = 1

As that answer does not make sense, t cannot be found from the given equation.

What you did does not work

I will illustrate:

1/10 + 3/20 = 1/4 ----> true !
you then flipped each term:

10 + 20/3 = 4 ---> definitely FALSE

Here is the solution ...
1/3 - 5/6 = 1/x
multiply each term by 6x
2x - 5x = 6
-3x = 6
x = -2

For the second, as Marth noted, there has to be a typo.

I will assume you meant
(t+3)/3 - (t-1)/2 = 1
multiply each term by 6

2(t+1) - 3(t-1) = 6
2t + 2 - 3t + 3 = 6
-t = 1
t = -1

Actually your error is different from the one I pointed out,

from
1/3 - 5/6 = 1/x you went to
x= 5/6 - 1/3

that should have been

1/x = 1/3 - 5/6

then
1/x = 2/6 - 5/6
1/x = -3/6
1/x = -1/2
now flip it
x = -2
