if a is the first term
and d is the common difference
then Term(n) = a + (n-1)d
and d is the common difference
then Term(n) = a + (n-1)d

so a = 11 and d = 3, so 23 = 11 + (23-1) 3.
The 23rd term is 77 because 11 + 22(3) = 77 =]
