At a construction site a pipe wrench struck the ground wiht a speed of 24 m/s.
a) From what height was it inadvertently fropped?
b) How long was it falling?
for a) the book said it was 29.4m and for b) it was 2.4s but I keep on getting the wrong answers.
s=(1/2)gt^2
v=g*t
g=9.8m/s^2
v=24m/s so t=(24m/s)/(9.8m/s^2)
Use that in the first equation and you should get the book's answers.
