2. Calculate the volume for the following object If you know that the object has a mass of 24 grams and the density is 12 g/ml. I tried to get rid of the 24 by multiplying it on both sides, and dividing on both sides, but neither worked. What will then? Thanks!

Density = Mass / Volume
Multiplying both sides by bolume,
Volume x Density = Mass
Dividing both sides by density,
Volume = Mass / Density
V = 24 g / 12 g/mL = ____?
density=mass/volume so
volume = mass/denstiy=24g/12g/ml= 2ml
24 grams * (1 ml/12 grams) = 2 ml
note I wrote 1 ml/12 g
instead of 12 g/1 ml
so that the grams cancel
If you multiply something by something that is the same top and bottom, for example in this case 12 g and 1 ml, you do not change the amount, only the units. That is an easy way to do this sort of problem particularly if you have a whole string of unit changes in one problem.
