The prob(dime or nickel) = 8/10 = 4/5

Probability is normally expressed as a fraction between 0 and 1

your wrote your answer in ratio form.
Normally odds are expressed that way.

e.g. suppose the odds in favour of some event is given as 4:5

that means the prob of that event happening is 4/9 and the prob of that event NOT happening is 5/9.

I don't know at what grade level you are studying probability, but I thought it was worth clearing up.

I guess I do know what grade level, all I had to do was look at the subject title.
