Explain two different strategies that you could use to determine the equation of the axis of symmetry defined by y = -2x^2 + 16x - 24. Which strategy do you prefer? Explain why.

one way - solve for y=0, and then you know the axis is midway between the roots

another way - remember that for y=ax^2+bx+c, the axis of symmetry is at x = -b/2a
