Okay, You can't distribute the exponent because it's addition inside that paranthesis.

That sounds correct so this is what I got!
F.O.I.L. = First, Outer, Inner, Last.
(4x+6)^2 =
(4x+6) (4x+6)
First 4x*4x = 16x^2
Outer 4x*6 = 24x
Inner 6*4x = 24x
24x+24x = 48x
Last 6*6 = 36
16x^2 + 48x + 36
