b = boys = 20

g = girls = 16

b + g = 20 + 16 = 36

a)

b / g = 20 / 16 = 4 • 5 / 4 • 4 = 5 / 4

b)

There are 20 boys and 16 girls in a class means, there are 36 students in a class.

g / ( b + g ) = 16 / 36 = 4 • 4 / 4 • 9 = 4 / 9
