I added 12 to a number and then double the sum. The result is one and half times what i get when I double the original number and add 12. Find the number.

2(x+12) = (3/2)(2x + 12)
2x + 24 = 3x + 18

x = 6 <------- answer

check:
I added 12 to a number and then double the sum
----> (6+12)*2 = 36
I double the original number and add 12, then take 3/2
----> (12+12)(3/2) = 24*3/2 = 36
