B's amount ---- x
A's amount ----- x+84
after the spending:
A has 5/6(x+84) left
B has (3/4)x left
(5/6)(x+84) = (3/4)x + 90
times 12
10(x+84) = 9x + 1080
10c + 840 = 9x + 1080
x = 240 <---- B's initial amount
so A had $(240+84) or $324 at first
