Joey initially had a certain number of candies. His mother gave him 20 more. He in turn gave 5 to his brother. He found he now has twice his original number of candies. How many candies did Joey have initially?

At the start, Joe had x
mom gave him 20, so now he has x+20
gave brother 5,
so Joe has x+15, bro has 5
x+15 = 2x
x = 15 , so he had 15 at the start
