1/2 + 2/5 = 5/10 + 4/10 = 9/10
so
1/10 of them are men
(1/10) n = 100
n = 1,000
so
1/10 of them are men
(1/10) n = 100
n = 1,000

total --- x
(1/2)x + (2/5)x + 100 = x
times 10
5x + 4x + 1000 = 10x
x = 1000
check:
1/2 are kids ----> 500
2/5 are women --> 400
total so far = 900 , leaving 100 men
(1/2)x + (2/5)x + 100 = x
times 10
5x + 4x + 1000 = 10x
x = 1000
check:
1/2 are kids ----> 500
2/5 are women --> 400
total so far = 900 , leaving 100 men
