original goals:
pete : Mike = x : 3x
Pete scored 4 goals, Mike scored none
Pete : Mike = x+4 : 3x = 1:2
(x+4)/ 3x = 1/2
3x = 2x + 8
x = 8
So Mike scored a total of 24 goals
check:
original score ratio
Pete ---- 8
Mike ----- 24
after:
Pete scored 4, so his total is now 12,
and ratio of 12: 24 = 1:2
