Jackson bought 3 3/4 pounds of candy for trick-or-treaters. His first trick-or-treater’s costume was so good he decided to give them 5/8 of the candy. Then he split the rest of the bag evenly between the next 12 trick-or-treaters. How much did each of the 12 trick-or-treaters receive?

amount left after first tricker
= 3/8 of 3 3/4
= (3/8)(15/4)
= 45/32
now we have to divide that by 12
= (45/32) ÷ 12
= (45/32)(1/12)
= 15/128
each of the remaining 12 trickers will get 15/128 lbs of candy
= 3/8 of 3 3/4
= (3/8)(15/4)
= 45/32
now we have to divide that by 12
= (45/32) ÷ 12
= (45/32)(1/12)
= 15/128
each of the remaining 12 trickers will get 15/128 lbs of candy
