total amount --- x
x/4 + x/8 + 300 = x
times 8
2x + x + 2400 = 8x
5x = 2400
x = 480
Jay got 120
Jonas got 60
John got 300 , so .....
x/4 + x/8 + 300 = x
times 8
2x + x + 2400 = 8x
5x = 2400
x = 480
Jay got 120
Jonas got 60
John got 300 , so .....

Rick gave x amount of money to his three brothers.
Jay received = 1/4 * x = x/4
Jonas received = 1/8 * x = x/8
John received = $300
x/4 + x/8 + $300 = x
$300 = x - (x/4 + x/8)
= x - ((2x + x)/8)
$300 = x - 3x/8
$300 = (8x - 3x)/8
$300 * 8 = 5x
($300 * 8)/5 = x
x = $480
total money = $480
Jonas received = x/8 = 480/8 = $60
John received more money than Jonas = $300 - 60 = $240
Jay received = 1/4 * x = x/4
Jonas received = 1/8 * x = x/8
John received = $300
x/4 + x/8 + $300 = x
$300 = x - (x/4 + x/8)
= x - ((2x + x)/8)
$300 = x - 3x/8
$300 = (8x - 3x)/8
$300 * 8 = 5x
($300 * 8)/5 = x
x = $480
total money = $480
Jonas received = x/8 = 480/8 = $60
John received more money than Jonas = $300 - 60 = $240
