Chopsticks
40=-0.2x+45
Subtract 45 to both sides
-5=-0.2x
now divide -0.2 to both sides
-5/-0.2=x
A negative divdes by a negative gives you a positive
5/0.2=x
You can leave that like that or find the decimal form of it.

Ms. Sue
40=-0.2x+45
0.2x = 45 - 40
0.2x = 5
x = 5/0.2
x = 25
Checking:
40 = -0.2x + 45
40 = -0.2 (25) + 45
40 = -5 + 45
0.2x = 45 - 40
0.2x = 5
x = 5/0.2
x = 25
Checking:
40 = -0.2x + 45
40 = -0.2 (25) + 45
40 = -5 + 45
