Yesterday a chef used 5 eggs to make 1 chocolate souffle. The day before, he made 3 chocolate souffles and 6 lemon meringue pies, which used 27 eggs. How many eggs does each dessert require?

we know the 3 souffles used 3*5 = 15 eggs
so the 6 pies used the other 12 eggs, or 2 eggs per pie
