The slope of a roof (pitch) is the ratio of the "rise" over the "run" of the roof. Say the pitch of a roof is 8/15. (This ratio is sometimes referred to as an 8-in-15 roof.) If a house 32 feet wide has a 3-in-8 peaked roof what is the total rise of the roof?

So the run is 16 and the rise is y
y/16 = 3/8
y = 3(16)/8 = 6 ft
y/16 = 3/8
y = 3(16)/8 = 6 ft
