    (-8x+3)(−8x+3) - (-4x-2)(−4x−2)
= 64x^2 - 48x + 9 - (16x^2 + 16x + 4)
= 64x^2 - 48x + 9 - 16x^2 - 16x - 4
= 48x^2 - 64x + 5

= 64x^2 - 48x + 9 - (16x^2 + 16x + 4)
= 64x^2 - 48x + 9 - 16x^2 - 16x - 4
= 48x^2 - 64x + 5

nah, this is just another of those cut-and-paste repeat-the-math stupidities.
(-8x+3) - (-4x-2)
-8x+3 + 4x+2
-4x+5

(-8x+3) - (-4x-2)
-8x+3 + 4x+2
-4x+5
