Write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line that is perpendicular to the one given point.
(4,8); y=-2x-4

the new line is perpendicular to y = -2x + 4
so it must be
y = (1/2)x + b, but (4,8) is to lie on it, thus

8 = (1/2)(4) + b
8 = 2 + b
b = 6

y = (1/2)x + 6
