im pretty sure that 12 inches = one foot so in theory it should be 1200 tiles

I tile is 1 ft by 1 ft
= 12 inches by 12 inches = 144 square inches
so 100 of these would be 14400 square inches
= 12 inches by 12 inches = 144 square inches

each tile has area 12in * 12in = 144 in^2
