the width of a rectangle is 5 meters less than its length. if the length is doubled and the width is cut in half, a new rectangle is formed whose permiter is 85 meters. find the dimensions of the original rectabgle

L = W + 5 ... 4 L = 4 W + 20

2 [2 L + (W / 2)] = 4 L + W = 85

substituting ... 4 W + 20 + 5 = 85

solve for W , then substitute back to find L
