I would multiply the first by 4, and the 2nd by 3, then subtract them to
eliminate the x's
3x + 5y = 15 ---- times 4 ---> 12x + 20y = 60
4x - 6y = 20 ----- times 3 ---> 12x - 18y = 60
subtract:
38y = 0
y = 0 , then in 3x + 5y = 15
3x = 15
x = 5
so x = 5, y = 0
eliminate the x's
3x + 5y = 15 ---- times 4 ---> 12x + 20y = 60
4x - 6y = 20 ----- times 3 ---> 12x - 18y = 60
subtract:
38y = 0
y = 0 , then in 3x + 5y = 15
3x = 15
x = 5
so x = 5, y = 0
