Joshua had some stamps. He gave 2/5 of them to Sam and 4/9 of the remainder to Ivan. He then gave 3/5 of the rest to Charlie and had 2/3x stamps left. If he had 190 stamps at first, find the value of x.

at start : 190 stamps
gave 2/5 of 190 to Sam, or gave 76 to Sam
leaving him with 114
gave (4/9) of 114 to Charlie , oops, that's not a whole numbers

So, 2/5 of 190 is 76

And 190-76=114

And 4/9 of 114 is 50.6666667

So now we have 63.3333333

3/5 of 63.3333333 is 38

63.3333333 - 38 = 25.3333333

I couldn't figure out the rest but I hope this helps (also I hope it's correct lol)

The question IS flawed,
as can be seen by both my and "BearyScary's" attempt at solving it.
You can't have a fraction of a stamp!

Total : 190 stamps
Goal : find out what 2/3x is
190 ÷ 5(5 big units) = 38
38 * 3(After giving 2/5 to Sam, Joshua had 3 units left.) = 114
114 ÷ 9(Remaining 9 parts) = 38/3
38/3 * 2(After giving to everyone, Joshua has 2 parts left) = 76/3
76/3 = 2/3x
76/3 ÷ 2/3 = x
76/3 * 3/2 = x
x = 38
