Solve in steps:
The first Ancient Olympic games were held in 776 B.C. The ancient games were abolished in 393 A.D. the first modern olympics were held in 1896 A.D.
A) How many years were there between the first ancient games and the year they were abolished?
B) How many years were there between the first and the modern ancient games?
*I know you need to add it, but why? Doesn't it ask you the years between, which means you subtract it??
Thanks

yes, but you're subtracting a negative number, since years BC < 0 and AD > 0
(A) -383 - (-776) = _____
(B) 1896 - (-776) = _____
(A) -383 - (-776) = _____
(B) 1896 - (-776) = _____
