Ethanol is a weak base with a rather neutral pKa, so it can not change the bodies pH. People have been saying that alchol is both a acid and a base. It depends on what type of alchol you are talking about. Wine is mostly acidic and beer is slightly acidic. Rubbing alchol is considered to be both acid and a base!

Brandon, stop it. You have no idea of the answer.
Alcohols can react as an weak acid,or a weak base, but less weak that water. In ordinary usage, we wouldn't refer to alcohols as either.
