I am not an American but I know enough that in that time,
the two parties were in effect opposite of what they are now.
That is today's Republican would have been a Democrat at that time, and
vice versa. (1860 Lincoln as a Republican, who today would be considered a Democrat)
So the "southern Democrat" found in many country songs would be today's
Republican.
So look at the choices and reverse the names of the parties.
e.g.
A. The Democratic Party platform tends to support cutting taxes
if that refers to 1860, ask yourself, Does todays Republican party support cutting taxes? YES
B. free healthcare would not be on the platform of either party in 1860
C. .... etc
D. ... etc

Dear, Mathhelper.
Historical facts should never be influenced by ideology. Ideology regardless of whom, does not apply to historical facts and evidence. Irrational reasoning, contextually deaf, emotionally regressing as long as ideology, not free thoughts
