A bag of marbles holds 4 blue, 5 purple, and 2 yellow marbles. What is the probability of selecting a yellow marble, placing back in the bag, then selecting a purple marble?

Since you are replacing the marble, the second event is independent on the first.
prob(yellow then purple) = (2/11)(5/11) = 10/121

If the first marble was NOT returned, it would be (2/11)(5/10)
