if p+q =9, then q = 9-p
and
(q - 9)/(4p) <==== I assumed you meant this, even though it was not typed that way
= (9-p - 9)/(4p)
= -p/(4p)
= -1/4

in solving the algebraic equation
2(x - 5) = 2x + 10, you end up with -10 = 10. What does this mean?
