if 12 oranges cost $3
then 1 orange costs $3/12 or 25 cents
then 2 apples cost 75 cents or
1 apple costs 75/2 cents
then number of apples for $18 = 1800/(75/2) = 48
then 1 orange costs $3/12 or 25 cents
