Question
How many hydroxide ions are produced when 2.00 moles of water react with aluminum sulfide?
Answers
Al2S3 + 6 HOH → 3 H2S + 2 Al(OH)3
I'm not certain how to answer this question. Actually the number of OH^- produced is very small; in fact, almost no OH^- are produced. So do you want the zero answer, or very small number of OH^- OR do you want the fact that Al(OH)3 is an insoluble material, it has a Ksp, and from that and the Ksp the actual number of OH^- can be calculated. Let me know. I don't think you want the last one but the first two answers above shows a lack of chemical knowledge.
