AB¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ has endpoints at A(−6,−3) and B(2,7).
What are the coordinates of the midpoint, M, of the segment?

the midpoint has coordinates that are the average of the endpoints'. So,
M is at ( (-6+3)/2 , (-3+7)/2 )
M is at ( (-6+3)/2 , (-3+7)/2 )

so it's (2,2)? correct?

no
(-6+3)/2 = -3/2
(3+7)/2 = 10/2 = 5
How ever did you arrive at (2,2)?
Heck, the x-coordinate of B is 2, so how could M also be at x=2?

henry2,
A(-6, -3), M(x, y), B(2, 7).
x+6 = 1/2(2+6)
X = -2.
y+3 = 1/2(7+3)
Y = 2.
x+6 = 1/2(2+6)
X = -2.
y+3 = 1/2(7+3)
Y = 2.
