The ratio of boys to girls in Ms. Pena's class is 2 to 3. There are 24 girls in the class. What is the total number of students in Ms. Pena's class? *

number of boys --- 2x
number of girsl --- 3x , note 2x : 3x = 2:3

but 3x = 24
x = 8
total number of students = 2x+3x = 5x = .....

2/3 = b/24
b = 16.
b+g = 16+24 = 40 students.
