Mrs. Sweettooth bought some packages of Snickers bars and some packages of KitKat bars in this store. She bought total 204 candy bars and paid $123.50. just express the words as math:
48x+36y = 204
28.00x + 22.50y = 123.50
Next, solve for x and y, which are the number of packages of each bar.
Answered by Reiny
number of Snickers ---- s
number of KitKat ---- k

s + k = 204 or k = 204-s

cost of Snicker bar = $28/48 = $(7/12) per bar
cost of KitKat bar = 22.50/36 = $(5/8)

(7/12)s + (5/8)k = 123.5
times 24
14s + 15k = 2964
substitution:
14s + 15(204-s) = 2964
14s + 3060 - 15s = 2964
-s = -96
s = 96 , k = 204-96 = 108
