Mrs. Bishop ran her last marathon (26.2 miles) in 4 hours 48 minutes while Dr. Farrar ran a half-marathon (13.1 miles) in 2 ½ hours. Who had the faster running speed? How do you know?

Come on. Change the times to minutes (each hour is 60 min)
then divide each distance by its time....that is the speed of each.

Mrs. Bishop: 26.2mi/4h = ----mi/h.
Dr. Farrar: 13.1mi/2.5h - ----mi/h.
Dr. Farrar: 13.1mi/2.5h - ----mi/h.
