Sharon ---- x
Marilyn has half as many earrings as Sharon -----> Marilyn has x/2
Rhonda has 15 more earrings than Marilyn ----- Rhonda has x/2 + 15

x/2 + 15 is the same as .5x + 15 or (1/2)x + 15
