In the halogen series, any element ABOVE another halogen will displace the lower halogen; i.e.,
Cl2(g) + 2NaI ==> I2(s) + 2NaCl but the reverse is not true. Cl2 gas is BELOW F2 and no reaction between NaF and Cl2 gas will occur.
