    Graph it.
it is a straight line that goes through (0,4) and (-10/3,0)

    how did you figure that out?

    let x = 0
then -5 y = -20
y = 4 so (0,4) is on the line
then
let y = 0
6 x = -20
x = -20/6 = -10/3
so (-10/3,0) is on the line

then -5 y = -20
y = 4 so (0,4) is on the line
then
let y = 0
6 x = -20
x = -20/6 = -10/3
so (-10/3,0) is on the line

    hey so how can you explain this?
x+3=0

x+3=0

    That is x = -3 for any y at all.
Therefore its graph is a vertical line through x = -3

    what if y is not shown, like in this equation?
2x-=0
what do you set y as? i don't get it.

    If 2 x = 0, y can be anything just like Amy's question.
x = 0
That is a vertical line through the origin, the y axis in fact.

x = 0

    By the way if you had
y = 0
then x could be anything.
That would be a horizontal line through the origin, namely the x axis.
or say
y = 3
That would be a horizontal line through (0,3)

y = 0
then x could be anything.

    2x-7=0
2x = 7
x = 7/2, y can be anything
vertical line through (3.5 , 0)
It could be (3.5,0)
or
(3.5 , -57312537.3) or any other y

2y+5= -2x

    Do it exactly the same way
x = 0, then y = -5/2 so (0,-5/2)
y = 0 then x = -5/2 so (-5/2, 0)

x = 0, then y = -5/2 so (0,-5/2)
y = 0 then x = -5/2 so (-5/2, 0)
