What would the equation for
“Marie has 24 coins in half Dollars and dimes?”

(24-x) quarters

if you told me how much money that was in dollars, then I could solve for x
say 8 dollars for example
.10 x + .50(24-x) = 8
.10 x + 12 - .5 x = 8
4 = .4 x
x =10 dimes
then 14 quarters
