I've studied music theory before, so I may be able to help. I'm also considering D because some instruments are tuned to be in a certain key (like Trumpet in F or Clarinet in Bb and stuff like that). B could work, but I don't really see how that would be the answer. Again, try D, or you can stick with B.

Every piece of tonal music is in a certain key, which will be either major or minor. The key signature tells you what that key is. Key signatures are used in order to make it unnecessary to fill up the staves with flats and sharps on many notes.
