1. A ratio is a comparison of two amounts by division. What is the ratio of the
cost of a loaf of bread in 2013 to the cost in 1980?
2. Assuming the price of clothing increased at the same rate, if the cost of jeans at Cobb's Corner was $15 in 1980, what would be the cost of the jeans be in 2013? Explain. I really don't get this problem, I searched everywhere, no one can explain it to me.

1. 2.5:1 or 5:2
2.using the ratio from part a 2.5:1 ....As it cost 15 in 1980 now you get a ratio x:15
2013 1980
2.5 : 1
x : 15
To get 15 we must times both sides by 15... so 15 x 2.5 is $37.5.
