When you attach a string to the roof of a moving object and a mass at the other end of the string, you can create an accelerometer. Show using words and equations how the angle of deflection of the mass can be used to measure the acceleration of the moving object. Which of Newton's laws is used at each moment?

the mass will have a gravity force acting downard, and a horizontal force acting on it due to accelerating force. Air friction is ignored for this.
horizontal force force=mass*a
vertical force= mg
tangent of the angle of depression= mg/ma=g/a
a= g/tan(theta)
