There are three houses on the hill.
1. A house on the hill is mine.
2. The house on the hill is mine.
[Can we use both sentences? Which one is commonly used? What is the difference in meaning?]

If there are three houses, then the second sentence would be confusing. Which of the three are "the" house...?
